'An atrocity of unspeakable cruelty'

Disturbing footage of the cold-blooded killing surfaced yesterday, causing outrage worldwide.
NATO commander General John Allen branded the incident “an atrocity of unspeakable cruelty” and offered to help local security forces capture the men involved.
The brutal shooting of the lone woman before a cheering mob of men took place in the village of Qol in Parwan province, some 60 miles north of capital Kabul.
Provincial governor Basir Salangi said police had been sent to the area, adding: “They are searching for the Taliban who are responsible but the Taliban, including the killer, have fled to the mountains."

The murdered 22-year-old woman, named as Najiba, was married to a member of the Taliban and accused of adultery with a commander from the hardline Islamist group.

She was given an hour-long trial and found guilty and sentenced her to death.
The video opens with the woman, wrapped in a grey shawl, sitting at the edge of a ditch surrounded by dozens of men, some perched on rooftops for a better view.
As she sits with her back to the crowd, a bearded man is seen reading verses from the Koran condemning adultery, before saying: “We cannot forgive her, God tells us to finish her."
The video then shows a man in white being handed an AK-47 rifle.
Some local reports said the shooter was the woman’s husband while the governor’s spokesperson said he was a relative of her husband
