One of the winners of the first 52nd Miss Chinese International Pageant Chongqing, who was deemed by netizens to be insufficiently attractive
==========================================================================
After the 52nd Miss China International Pageant's Chongqing regional final attracted widespread accusations with regard to the legitimacy of the pageant itself and the three winners, the contest's governing body in Beijing announced on July 19 that another contest will be held in the southwest municipality and the three finalists will go to the national final alongside the three initially selected, reports internet portal Tencent in its entertainment section.
The result of the first pageant in Chongqing caused an outcry after a photo of the three winners was posted in news media and they were judged by the public to be not very attractive, prompting accusations of bribery. The legitimacy of the company that hosted the pageant was also called into question when an internet celebrity posted a photo from a brochure which said it requires a fee of as little as 600,000 yuan (US$94,000) for a company or organization to hold a Miss China pageant in a district. The company that hosted the Chongqing pageant was found by reporters to be a small-time outfit.
To satisfy Chongqing's media and netizens, the national pageant's commission has made an exceptional decision to hold a second final in the city, according to its official website. "The pageant is additional and will not disqualify the previously selected beauties from going to the national pageant final," the website told a reporter.
As for which company or organization will host the additional heat, the Chongqing commission said that since Beijing has made the decision, it should be Beijing that decides who is qualified to host.
