According to a survey, 80% of those Chinese people surveyed answered that they despise the rich.
China ranked fourth on a list of countries which least despise the rich, reports UK-based Economists on July 11.
China Tencent launched a topic called "Do you despise the rich?" on July 13. Of the over 5,000 respondents, 78.32% said they despise them. Most think the rich don't deserve their fortunes, according to Duowei news, a Chinese news website based in New York.
In Tencent's survey, the respondents can choose from three answers: the first is "Despise them, because they don't deserve their fortunes;" the second is "Don't despise them — most of them earn their fortunes bare-handed;" and third, "Only despise them a little bit, so I'll fight to become one."
According to the statistics, among the 5,000-plus respondents, 4,133 (78.23%) of them chose "despise," 587 (11.11%)of them said "don't despise," 563(10.66%)of them said "despise a little bit."
One netizen "Li Zhuanhao" said he does not hate the rich but only hates corrupted wealthy people who are heartless and will do anything to make a profit.
Another netizen "Jie Cuo" said 80% of the wealthiest Chinese make their fortunes through unfair means of competition...making the term of 'rich' synonymous with corrupted officials, the underworld, gangsters and the despicable."
